FAQ and First Visit Documentation
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have an injury to go to physical therapy?
No. As Doctors of Phyiscal Therapy, we are experts in assessing the musculoskeletal system. Our strength is in identifying imbalances in biomechanics and movement dysfunctions that may be causing a current injury or that will lead to a future injury.
We utilize our skills in injury rehabiliatation and performance therapy, providing hands-on manual therapy techniques along with corrective exercise with the goal of optimizing how you feel, move and perform!
Do I need a prescription for physical therapy?
No! At PEAK and in Connecticut, we have Direct Access which means you can come for physical therapy without seeing a medical doctor first.
We will help you determine your physical therapy diagnosis. This will include what is painful, the cause of the problem, movement dysfunction and the anatomy & physiology of the issue that needs to be addressed and how we will go about doing so.
Do you accept my insurance?
Yes, we work with all major health insurance companies through out-of-network benefits although we are not in-network with any plans.
If you do not know what your benefits are, we will happily call your insurance company and verify them for you. Oftentimes, they will reimburse you for some or all of your physical therapy services. We will give you all the necessary documentation you may need.
The traditional insurance model does not allow us to treat you the way we feel is best for you or the time with you that you deserve.
This allows us to spend more quality 1-on-1 time with clients and will help you feel and move better, faster. Most PT clinics will see you 3x/week with many other patients at the same time. We will usually see you 1-2x/week.
You tend to need less visits and in the long run, end up spending less with us than most traditional PT practices when you consider your deductible, co-pay and extra visits needed.
Can I use my HSA (health savings account) card?
Of course. At PEAK, we accept all major forms of payment including health savings acounts.
